Clear answers. No magical thinking.
Spectra is a focused visual detector with real boundaries. Here is what it does, what it does not do, and how the closed alpha works.
01Does Spectra record or upload my gameplay?+
Detection is designed to run locally against the selected visible window. Gameplay upload is not required. Spectra stores session statistics and settings locally; diagnostic exports happen only when you request them.
02Does it read game memory or modify game files?+
No. The current engine recognizes supported visual states from window pixels. It is not designed as a memory reader, mod, injected overlay, or anti-cheat bypass.
03What do Field Tested, Beta, and Lab mean?+
They are evidence labels. Field Tested means representative real or streamed gameplay has been exercised. Beta means a viable profile has stronger validation but still needs broader acceptance. Lab means offline or development evidence exists and real-world coverage remains incomplete.
04Why can a death be missed?+
Resolution, scaling, language, ultrawide layouts, window movement, overlays, cinematic variants, compression, and new game updates can all alter the visual signal. The profile page states the known boundary for each game.
05What happens when I stop capture?+
Spectra finalizes the current run and stores its duration, deaths, rate, and event timeline locally so it can appear in Session Intelligence.
06How does the OBS overlay work?+
The app hosts a local browser-source page on your computer. OBS reads that local URL to render selected live statistics. No external overlay server is required for the current implementation.
07Can I download Spectra now?+
Not publicly. Spectra is in closed alpha and builds are issued manually to approved testers. This site does not offer a public executable or automated signup; access requests go through support@spectra-gaming.com.
08Does Spectra work on macOS?+
The product is being prepared for Windows gameplay capture. macOS has been used as a development and stream-test environment, but that is not the same as supported production gameplay capture.
09Will more games be added?+
Yes, selectively. A profile needs distinct, repeatable visual states and enough test evidence. The current catalog focuses on games whose death states can be recognized without modifying the game.
10Is Spectra affiliated with these games?+
No. Game names and marks belong to their respective owners. SpectraLabs is an independent project and is not endorsed by the publishers of supported titles.
